What it is

What is a corporate explainer video?

A corporate explainer video is a short film, usually 60 to 90 seconds, that explains one product, service or process so clearly that the viewer understands it on the first watch. It starts with the problem your customer has, shows how you solve it, and ends with one next step.

Explainers do the job of the first sales conversation. Prospects arrive at the call already knowing what you do.

  • i.One idea per video
  • ii.Problem first, then the solution
  • iii.Under 90 seconds
  • iv.Ends with one clear action

Styles

Live action, motion graphics or both.

The right style depends on what you need to show. If it can be filmed, filming usually builds more trust. If it cannot, motion graphics make it visible. Considering an AI-made explainer? Read AI explainer videos: when they work and when to film instead.

    Live action

Script structure

How a 90-second explainer is built.

Voice-over runs at roughly 130 to 150 words a minute, so a 90-second explainer has room for about 200 to 225 words. That limit is why every section has to earn its place.

Where it works

Where explainer videos earn their keep.

An explainer gets watched many times by many different people. Plan where it will run before production so the right versions are made.

  • i.

    Landing pages

Next to the enquiry form, where visitors decide whether to get in touch.

  • ii.

    Sales follow-ups

Sent after a first call so the prospect can share it with colleagues who were not in the room.

  • iii.

    Paid ads

Short cut-downs with captions for LinkedIn, Meta and YouTube campaigns.

  • iv.

    Exhibition stands

A subtitled loop that explains your product while your team talks to visitors. See exhibition videography.

  • v.

    Customer onboarding

Helps new customers get started without a long call.

  • vi.

    Internal launches

Explains a new process or system to your own staff before it goes live.

Avoid these

Why most explainer videos do not work.

Weak explainers usually try to say too much. These are the problems that come up most often, and all of them are fixed at the script stage.

  • i.Explaining every feature
  • ii.Opening with the company history
  • iii.Industry jargon the viewer does not use
  • iv.Voice-over too fast to follow
  • v.No captions for muted viewing
  • vi.More than one call to action

Cost

What affects the cost of an explainer video.

Two explainers of the same length can be very different jobs. Simple animated text and icons cost less than custom illustration, and a studio shoot costs less than filming across several sites.

Send your brief and we will quote a fixed price for the agreed scope before any work starts.

  • i.Live action, motion graphics or mixed
  • ii.Length of the finished video
  • iii.Simple graphics or custom illustration
  • iv.Filming days and locations
  • v.Voice-over and language versions
  • vi.Number of cut-downs and formats

FAQs

Explainer video FAQs.

i.How long should a corporate explainer video be?

Between 60 and 90 seconds for most products and services. If you need longer, it is usually better to make a short main explainer and separate videos for each feature.

ii.Should our explainer be animated or live action?

Choose live action when trust in your people or seeing a physical product matters. Choose motion graphics when the thing you sell happens inside software or a system and cannot be filmed. Many technical products work best with a mix.

iii.How many words fit in a 60-second explainer script?

About 130 to 150 words. Voice-over at a natural pace runs at roughly that rate, and the visuals need time to land between lines.

iv.Can an explainer video be updated later?

Motion graphics explainers are easier to update, because screens, prices or features can be changed without a new shoot. Live action explainers need a reshoot for anything on camera, so avoid filming details that change often.

v.Does an explainer need a voice-over?

Most do, but every version should also work without sound, because many people watch on mute. Captions or on-screen text make that possible.

vi.Can you make Arabic and English versions?

Yes. We can add Arabic subtitles or a second voice-over so one production works for both audiences. Tell us at the brief stage so we plan for it.
