What it is
What is a time-lapse video?
A time-lapse video (also written timelapse or time lapse) is made by taking photos or frames at set intervals from a fixed camera, then playing them back at normal speed. Hours, weeks or months of work appear in seconds, so viewers see a stand rise, an interior take shape or a structure grow in one continuous shot.
It is one of the few video formats that both marketing teams and project managers want: a striking clip for social media and a visual record of how the work progressed.
- i.Shows scale and speed of work
- ii.A visual record of progress
- iii.Strong content for social and LinkedIn
- iv.Works inside a longer project film
Project length
How time-lapse works for different projects.
The right setup depends on how long the work takes. These are typical starting points; we confirm the capture interval and camera position when we review your project.
| Project | Typical duration | Capture | Final clip |
|---|---|---|---|
| Event setup or stage build | Hours to one day | A frame every few seconds | 20–45 sec |
| Exhibition stand build-up | 1–4 days | A frame every few seconds during build hours | 30–60 sec |
| Office, retail or restaurant fit-out | Weeks | Frames through working hours | 45–90 sec |
| Construction milestone or phase | Weeks to months | Fixed camera, frames through the day | 60–120 sec, plus progress clips |
| Full building project | Many months | Long-term fixed camera | Final film plus milestone updates |

Planning
What we agree before the camera goes up.
A time-lapse cannot be reshot, so the setup has to be right on day one. We agree these points with your site or venue team before installation.
For projects lasting several months, tell us the start date and duration and we will confirm the right camera setup for that timeframe. Our construction time-lapse planning guide covers interval, camera position and the UAE summer in detail.
- i.A camera position that stays clear
- ii.Permission from site or venue
- iii.Power and secure mounting
- iv.Heat, dust and sun direction
- v.Start and end dates that match the work
Cost
What affects the cost of a time-lapse video.
Duration is the biggest factor. A one-day stand build is a short job; a camera running for months needs equipment on site, checks and regular downloads.
Send your project details and we will quote a fixed price for the agreed scope before any work starts.
- i.How long the camera runs
- ii.Number of camera positions
- iii.Site access for checks
- iv.Progress clips during the project
- v.Added filmed footage and interviews
FAQs
Time-lapse video FAQs.
i.How long should a time-lapse video be?
Most time-lapse clips work best at 20 seconds to 2 minutes. For long projects, short progress clips during the work plus one final film at the end usually work better than one long video.
ii.Can you time-lapse an exhibition stand build?
Yes. Stand build-ups usually take one to four days, which makes a strong 30 to 60 second clip. We agree the camera position with the organiser and stand builder before build-up starts.
iii. What happens if the camera view gets blocked?
We choose a position with your site team that should stay clear for the whole project and check the camera during the capture period.
iv.Can time-lapse be combined with normal filming?
Yes, and it usually should be. Interviews and close-ups explain what the time-lapse shows, which turns a clip into a project film.
v.Do you do construction timelapse in Dubai?
Yes. We plan construction timelapse around your programme, from a single milestone to a full phase, with progress clips along the way and a final film. Tell us the start date and duration so we can confirm the setup.
vi.Do you do time-lapse outside Dubai?
Yes. We work across the UAE, including Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.
