Abu Dhabi events

Who’s in the room changes how you film.

Abu Dhabi’s events calendar is growing fast. The emirate’s Department of Culture and Tourism counted about 6,600 business events in 2025, up 37 percent on the year before, with around 2.2 million participants. Many of these events have ministers, royal patrons or senior officials in the room, and that changes where cameras can go and who approves the footage.

Where we film

Abu Dhabi venues we work in.

  • i.

    ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi

The capital’s main exhibition and conference venue, home to the large energy and defence shows and many government summits. For stand videos at ADNEC shows, see our Abu Dhabi exhibition page.

  • ii.

    Etihad Arena, Yas Island

An indoor arena that scales from a few hundred guests up to about 18,000, used for concerts, award shows and big corporate gatherings.

  • iii.

    Saadiyat Island

The cultural district, where museum venues and beach hotels host launches and receptions with strict rules on where cameras can stand.

  • iv.

    Hotel ballrooms

From Corniche hotels to Yas and Saadiyat resorts, the usual home of galas, conferences and company celebrations.

  • v.

    Al Ain

Company events and university ceremonies, around two hours from Dubai, so we build the travel into the schedule.

VIPs and officials

Planning for protocol.

  • i.

    Protocol comes first

When a minister or royal guest attends, their office often decides camera positions, which moments can be filmed and who signs off footage. We ask for the protocol brief early, keep to the agreed positions, and hold VIP footage until it’s cleared.

  • ii.

    Security and access

High-level guests mean checks on kit and crew. We send names, ID details and an equipment list ahead of time and arrive early enough to be cleared before doors open.

Permits

Filming permits in Abu Dhabi.

Ground filming in public areas of Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra needs a permit from the Media Regulatory Office, and private locations are agreed directly with the venue owner. Aerial shots need two approvals: a media office no-objection and a GCAA permit. For an event inside a hotel or ADNEC hall, the venue agreement is usually what matters.

Getting there

Call time never depends on the E11.

Central Abu Dhabi is around an hour and a half from Dubai by road, so we plan call times around rehearsal and traffic, not the guest arrival time. Our editor comes with them, so on-site reels are ready during the event with On-the-Spot Editing.

  • i.

    What you receive

Session recordings with sound from the AV desk, a highlight film for the next edition, speaker and VIP clips cleared by protocol, and short vertical reels on the day.

  • ii.

    Event types

Summits and forums, government ceremonies, product launches, galas and award nights, company conferences and town halls. See product launch video and gala and awards videography.
